Was originally built in Castleford in 1930 by Cliff and Jones. She was later used as a Dunkirk little ship and took part in Operation Dynamo evacuating troops from East Beach. Her current owners are heavily involved in the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS) and brought her to HMS for a mini refit over the winter of 2018/19 prior to an association celebration in London’s St Katharine’s Dock in May 2019. When she arrived to HMS Southwold on closer inspection we discovered a more extensive restoration was required, there were large areas of the hull which had serious rot and John managed put his car key through the side of the hull!
Lazy Days Update April 2022:
After overwintering in Southwold following her restoration and subsequent modifications we were delighted to be awarded a Highly Commended award in the Classic Boat Awards 2022 for restored powered vessel. It was great to see so many Suffolk boatyards doing so well in the awards this year. She is now ready to head back to the Thames for the summer.
Lazy Days Update September 2021:
While making modifications to the boat for safer access the owners wisely decided to give her a hull repaint and revarnish. She will now overwinter on the water at Southwold before making her way back to her new home on the Thames.
Lazy Days Update August 2021:
Following the cockpit modifications and several coats of varnish she was nearing completion but then the owners had a change of plan and decided that she would stay with HMS a little longer and have a few additional modifications and while she was out of the water we would paint the hull. So the hull has been sanded and is being prepped ready for painting.
Lazy Days Update August 2021:
The team are making great progress with the modifications to the cockpit area improving the access for the new owners and giving her a little refresh varnish before she heads back to her new home on the Thames for her owners to enjoy.
Lazy Days Update May 2021:
Lazy Days has been lifted out of the water and is ready for some modifications and maintenance works before heading back to the Thames for the Summer
Lazy Days Update July 2021:
With Lazy Days in new ownership she has returned to HMS for some modifications to make her more accessible for the new owner, Paul is happy to be working back on one of his favourites.
Lazy Days Update:
This needed to be repaired and re-planked using larch and traditional boatbuilding methods to make her seaworthy again.
Lazy Days Update:
The staff at HMS pulled out all the stops to get her finished on time and with hours to spare before Prince Michael of Kent was due on board for a drinks reception she was delivered by HMS to London St Katharine’s Dock.
